It is better to fight the charges & fines
The better approach is to try to get a court date to fight the charges and fines and try to keep the violation off your DMV driver record.
We can appear in court in your place to fight your charges and fines for you in LA. Call us for a free legal consultation.
Huge Fine from GC Services?
Did you get a collection letter from GC Services demanding payment of a huge fine? As long as you have not already been in front of a Judge, we recommend that you do not pay the ridiculous amount GC Services is seeking from you and instead get a court date in front of a judge and try to correct and/or fight the violation and lower the fine.
Keep the violation off your DMV Driver Record
A lot of people just call up GC Services and pay off this traffic ticket just to get it over with. The problem with this approach is :-
- You have essentially plead guilty
- You have spent a lot of money
- You have also put the violation on your DMV driver record which can possibly result in a point on your license and an increase in your insurance if your traffic ticket involves a moving violation.
The better approach is to try to get a court date to fight the charges and fines and try to keep the violation off your DMV driver record.
GC Services Fine & Suspended License
If you fail to pay your traffic ticket on time or do not appear in court, the Court usually will get the DMV to suspend your license and charge you a ridiculous amount of money and then refer your case to GC Services collection agency. We recommend that you do not pay the big fine that GC Services are seeking in the letter they sent to you.
How to handle a notice from GC Services for a traffic fine
GC Services receives cases from the court when a traffic ticket has not been paid, a court appearance date was missed, or a fine or restitution was not paid after an appearance in court. If a traffic ticket has not been resolved in a timely manner, the Court refers the ticket to GC Services for all further action. When this happens, the Court will not schedule any court appearances, accept payments or process any correspondence related to the ticket. You will have to deal directly with GC Services. If you received a notice from GC Services, the matter must be handled with the collection agency, not the Traffic Clerk's Office at the courthouse.
It is better to go to court and fight
Once the case is referred to GC Services Limited Partnership for collection, additional costs will be added to what you face. When you are charged with a Failure to Appear (FTA), the government is trying to make a lot of money off you and it is best to go to court to try to minimize fines and the charges instead of just paying it off.
A lot of times people receive a traffic ticket for something correctable like no proof of insurance (California VC 16028) when they did have insurance, no front plates (VC 5200) or license plates, expired registration (VC 4000), or tinted windows (California VC 26708, VC 26708.5) and it has turned into a Failure To Appear in court (FTA). A $25 court cost fee would have fixed this ticket but now GC Services sends you a letter asking for a ridiculous amount of money.
If you are being charged over a $1,000 by GC Services and one of the charges was for no proof of insurance (California VC 16028) and you did have valid insurance but you did not have the proof of insurance in your car, call us so we can help you fight the ridiculous fines and charges that you are facing from GC Services.
The problem is when you did not deal with your traffic ticket in a timely matter you were charged with a new offense, Failure to Appear (FTA) California Vehicle Code Section 40508 which is a misdemeanor charge and allows the government to charge you a lot of money for not taking care of this traffic ticket in a timely manner. It is better to go to court and try to do something about lowering this huge fine than to just pay it off.
Check Your Traffic Ticket Status with GC Services on Court Website
If you have a ticket with GC Services it is a good idea to check the status of your ticket. Go to the Los Angeles Superior Court website :
- ww2.lasuperiorcourt.org/traffic/onlineservice/UI/searchOLN.aspx (this link will open in a new tab in your browser)
- and enter your drivers license and date of birth. The court website will pull up the status of all of your traffic tickets in Los Angeles county.
Traffic Ticket Status
If the status of your traffic ticket says VC 40509.5 Holds or Bench Warrant or Arrest Warrant call us because we can help you! We can fight the traffic ticket and the big fines GC services is trying to charge you and we oftentimes can clear up your license suspension in one day so you can have a valid license again without you ever having to go to court. We can also help you if there is an arrest warrant or bench warrant out for you.
Matter Set For Compliance
If the status of your ticket says Matter Set For Compliance WE CANNOT HELP YOU. The only way out of a Matter Set For Compliance that we know of is to go to court and pay your fine that GC Services is charging you. You cannot see a Judge again if your ticket status says Matter Set For Compliance. Paying the GC services fine is the only way to get your license back because a Matter Set For Compliance means you have already seen a Judge about your ticket and you did not pay the fine or do the community service by the due date and now you face a very high fine for your failure to pay or do the community service by the due date. Matter Set For Compliance is a terrible situation to be in because the only thing we can advise you to do is to pay the heavy fine to GC Services in order to get your license back.
